Why Utah is Attracting Home Buyers From Other States

Utah draws people for many reasons.   Over the past few years, there has been a migration of people from different parts of the country to Utah, and particularly from California, Texas, and New York.

I have lived in a variety of different states across the US.   And over the past 18 years I have called Utah home.  I love the relatively safe communities, family-oriented culture, open-space, scenic mountain beauty, and wide access to recreation.

Below are some of the highlights:

Utah boasts the best ski resorts in the US.  Brighton, Solitude, Snowbird, Alta, Park City, Deer Valley, Snow Basin and more.  Brighton accumulated the most snow this year in the US at 675" to date.  Park City is arguably the largest ski resort in the country and ranks in the top 3 in the US.   It spans 7,300 acres and over 300 trails.   Also, Mayflower Mountain Resort will be North Americas newest ski resort since 1981.  This will be an integrated high-end development of 4+ star hotels, (i.e., Four Seasons), condos, single-family ski/in ski/out home sites, restaurants, spa/fitness, and Tiger Woods designed golf course, and more Mayflower Mountain Resort.  Salt Lake City | Park City appears to be in the lead to host the 2030 Winter Olympics. National Parks. There are 13 National Parks in Utah that receive over 13.9 million visitors per year and produce over 1.0 billion in economic benefits to tourism.  The 5 most well-known National parks—Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion—collectively known as the Mighty Five. Established between 1919 and 1971, these parks are famous for their spectacular red-rock formations, desert solitude, and more than 1,000 miles of hiking & trekking trails.  A great book by a late Western poet Edward Abbey called "Desert Solitaire" gives one a deep sense of appreciation for southern Utah. Scenic Beauty | Geology – Utah is unique in that it hosts spectacular rock formations. For example, the scenic beauty of the Navajo Sandstone in Zion that accumulated 2000 feet of red deposits is breathtaking. The Wasatch Mountains, spans 160 miles, reaches almost 12,000 feet and host some of the best skiing, hiking, and rock climbing in the country.  And did you know, unlike any other state - Utah boasts an exposed record of rock that spans across 2.7 Billion year old sediment in the Uintah Mountains.  Hard to imagine.   But for those curious about the origin, formation, texture, and beauty of the rock record, Utah is one of a kind.

Economics | Real Estate - Utah cost of living has increased, but is still below many other Metropolitan areas. It has become a more expensive place to live based on the demand of people wanting to live here.  There is still a shortage of homes given the State's rapid population and job growth.   We feel this trend will continue.   For this reason, we feel there are still good investment opportunities to purchase in Utah.
